North Star is an Orthodox vacation church school program designed to teach children to LOVE GOD, SERVE OTHERS, practice SELF CONTROL, and SPREAD THE GOSPEL by learning about the life of St. Herman of Alaska, one of North America’s most beloved saints! The program works best with grades K-5, and can be implemented as a 5 day summer camp or throughout the summer as part of your weekly Sunday school.

North Star was created by Mary Kate (Maria) Condra of St. Herman’s Orthodox Mission in Tuscaloosa, AL. She holds a Masters degree in Elementary Education and is a summer camp director for the Tuscaloosa Children’s Theatre. She became Orthodox in 2022.
