The Making of a Person

from $12.99

A collection of poems providing an insight into the celebrations, struggles, surprises, and intimacies of marriage and motherhood in the early years. Dr. Geoffrion writes as a mother of 7 children under 6 years old, one of the lucky few, wife of 9 years, an Orthodox Christian, and an M.D. graduate. She describes her work as “less of an attempt at grandiose poetry, but rather a painting motherhood and marriage with words.”

Her poems begin with her first pregnancy during medical school, in which she became mother to twins. They span years of many children, her daughter’s experience with congenital heart disease and surgery, and grappling with her changing body and self-understanding as life happens.

Available in hardcover and paperback.
